MRI Vancouver GE 3.0 Tesla – Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an advanced diagnostic technology that can provide detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body. An MRI scan can detect many abnormalities, which CT scans, Ultrasound, and X-rays cannot. False Creek Healthcare is the only private healthcare facility in Canada that offers Total Sedation MRI.
Brain MRI

Brain & Spinal Cord MRI
MRI is frequently used to provide diagnosis of aneurysm, disorders of the eye and inner ear, Multiple, sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, stroke and tumors.

Bone & Joint MRI
An MRI can be used to evaluate joint disorders, sport or traumatic injuries, bone infections, or tumors of the bones and soft tissues. MRI arthrography, the injection of a contrast into the joint, is also available to provide structural joint information. An MRI arthrogram can be done on the following joints: ankle, elbow, hip, knee, shoulder, and wrist.
Spine MRI

Spine & Back Pain MRI
An MRI can be used to detect degenerated or herniated intervertebral discs.

Chest & Abdomen MRI
An MRI can be used to check for tumors or abnormalities of many organs in the body, including: the liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, bowel and adrenal glands.
Fibroids MRI

Pelvic Organs MRI
An MRI can be used to evaluate the reproductive organs, including: the prostate, testicles, uterus, cervix, and ovaries.

Breast MRI
MRI can be used to detect breast cancer in men and women – particularly in women who have dense breast tissue.
Full Body MRI Scan – Preventive Health Screening
False Creek Healthcare Centre offers full body MRI scans. Our comprehensive full body MRI scan includes: the brain, the brain arteries and blood vessels, vital organs of the neck, shoulders, lumbar spine, spinal cord, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, reproductive organs, discs, and hips. What to Expect

Pre-Screening Considerations
Ability to hold still – Patients are required to lie still for periods of 30 minutes or more.
Ability to hold breath – MRIs of the abdomen require breath holds of up to 30 seconds.
MRI Restrictions – Pacemakers, aneurysm clips, cochlear implants, neuro-stimulator, metal implants, surgical staples or clips are not safe for an MRI exam.

One of our expert technologists will escort you into the MRI scanning room, containing a table and a large, circular device called a gantry. Your technologist will have you lie on the padded table and make sure that you’re comfortable. You will be asked to lie very still and hold your breath for a short time during the scan in order to produce a clear image.

Depending on the specific exam, a contrast solution may be administered through an IV to help improve the accuracy of the examination. It is important that you inform your doctor beforehand if you any allergies, or if you have previously had an allergic reaction to a contrast solution.

During the scan, you might hear a humming or buzzing noise, which can be quite loud, but you will not experience any other unusual sensations. You may feel the table move while images are being taken of specific locations of your body. The technologist will monitor you during the entire exam through a window and will communicate with you by intercom.

Specific details of your upcoming examination will be explained fully by one of our MRI technologist or by your patient care coordinator.

After Your MRI

Our radiologists will carefully analyze your MRI images and provide a report to you and your physician. Once they have received the report your physician will then discuss the results with you. Your technologist will also provide you with a CD containing the images from your scan when you leave.

Safety

MRI is a safe and effective diagnostic procedure. It does not use ionizing radiation like an x-ray. Additionally, the 3.0T Signa EXCITE HDX MRI system has been designed with your safety and comfort in mind. Many older MRI system use larger coils, which can make the unit more confining, but the GE 3.0T Signa EXCITE HDX MRI system features more compact, more advanced coils, meaning the MRI experience is much more comfortable.

I have soft tissue injury from a workplace accident. Three weeks later a car drove into the passenger side of my car and I was injured so more. I am now dealing with WCB and ICBC. I am in a ten week full time rehab physio program. I do know I have de Quervain’s in my wrist but I don’t want cortisone shots. Of course WCB wants me back at work. My neck, shoulder, back, arms, wrist, hips, back of legs all ache. I also get tension headaches. I would like to know how much a full MRI costs. I appreciate and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you.

How much does an MRI of my left knee cost? Dr. says I tore my ACL and I want to get an MRI as soon as possible.

I have also been having back pain (unrelated to my knee) and have wanted an MRI. CT of my back didn’t show anything though. How much is an MRI of my lower back?

I have sudden hearing loss in my right ear. In hours prior to the hearing loss I felt disoriented. In the evening, I turned my head, heard a crackling in my ear (the problem in), and then my hearing was reduced. High frequencies were suppressed and low frequency sounds were muffled. A few days later the loss of hearing was accompanied by tinnitus. The tinnitus is high pitched and often pulses at my heart rate.

What is the cost of an MRI of this region of my head with interpretation by a radiologist?

How much does a full body MRI cost ? How confined is the space ? Is it like a tanning bed? And does the machine move from the head and neck region down to your feet – so that you whole body is not confined the entire time but moves ? Does BC Medical cover any portion of the scan?

    Thanks

Can your new Telsa MRI do a detailed, readable carotid scan without using a contrast agent. I ask this because: it seems that an MRA must be performed at a hospital; with a doctor present This scenerio
pretty well excludes the average Joe from getting a MRA from a private clinic. I wouldn’t want to hold my
breath trying to get one in lieu of a CTscan, and it’s associated contrast-agent served with a super-high dose of radiation.
On behalf of my wife Helen, with plugged carotids, I ask for this information

Do you have digital mamography? Is your MRI breast imaging just as accurate as the digital mamography? Primarily I would need a MRI on the cerebulum (intracanalular area) as I have residual acoustic neuroma, how much does all these procedures cost? Also is this particular machine an open end MRI?
