Chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) is a condition, which has been associated with multiple sclerosis (MS). At False Creek Healthcare Centre we provide advanced CCSVI testing using state of the art MRI/MRV, ultrasound, and blood flow quantification reporting.
False Creek Healthcare – Leaders in CCSVI Testing

The first Medical Organization to offer CCSVI testing in Canada.
The only 3T MRI in B.C. Learn more about the advantages of 3T MRI over all other 1.5 MRIs.

Get quick access to the scans that you need. At False Creek Healthcare Centre there is no wait list for MRI or Ultrasound.
Our Ultrasound technologist is trained in the Ultrasound detection of CCSVI using the Zamboni method. She was trained at the Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Centre.

Whilst other clinics use Dr. Haacke’s protocol, we are the only healthcare facility that works directly with Dr. Haacke. Our reports include a post-analysis report from Dr. Haacke. Read Dr. Haacke’s profile.
Dr. Godley is a Chairperson of the International Society for Neurovascular Disease, along with Dr. Zamboni, Dr. Zivadinov, Dr. Simka, Dr. Schelling, Dr. Hubbard and Dr. Haacke.

Doppler Ultrasound
The Doppler Ultrasound takes approximately 60-90 minutes and is performed by a radiologist or technician who is trained in the detection of truncal venous malformations. Our technician was trained in CCSVI testing at New York’s Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Centre. A small, hand-held instrument is passed over the skin producing an image of the blood flow through the targeted blood vessels.
MRI/MRV
Interventional radiologists in preparation for a venography can use your MRI report. The 3.0 Tesla MRI scan includes a scan of your brain, neck, and upper chest. The complete scan takes approximately one and a half to two hours.
Blood Flow Quantification Report
Dr. Haacke’s team of specialists will receive your images for blood flow quantification analysis. Dr. Haacke’s analysis will be a useful tool during return visits for the months following an angioplasty procedure. Download an example report (pdf).
CCSVI Follow-Up Program
Follow Up Consultation – Post Treatment
In order to test for the re-narrowing of veins following treatment, False Creek Healthcare will provide you with follow up consultations for MRI/MRV rescans for an additional fee.
Our dedicated staff can help you with accommodations, transportation and any other questions regarding your visit to Vancouver. Travel and visitor packages to our clinic are available. Please contact us for more information.
Preparing for CCSVI Testing
For initial CCSVI scans:
- A requisition from your physician for an MRI/MRV and a Doppler Ultrasound scan (requisitions can be downloaded here)
- If you are unable to obtain requisitions from your physician, we can arrange for you to see one of our Urgent Care physicians to provide these
- Creatinine blood test to test your kidney function as contrast dye is used during the MRV scan.
For follow-up scans:
- A requisition from your physician for the appropriate scan (MRV and/or Doppler Ultrasound)
- Creatinine blood test if an MRV is requested
- Doctor’s reports and images from your procedure
The process:
- Your physician will fax the required requisitions to our facility along with your blood work.
- One of our Diagnostic Patient Care Coordinators will contact you to schedule your appointments
- Each scan is scheduled for 90 minutes so please plan on being at our facility for several hours
- Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time.
- When you arrive at our facility we will have you complete our Registration Forms prior to your scan. We will process your payment at this time as well. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Debit.
- You will be required to change into a hospital gown for the MRV scan and you will be required to remove all jewelry and/or piercings at this time. This scan is approximately 90 minutes.
- Contrast dye is injected during your MRV scan so an IV will be started prior to this scan. If you’re unable to obtain a blood test prior to your MRV scan, we can do this when you arrive at our facility.
- The Doppler Ultrasound scan is approximately 60-90 minutes. You will be sitting on an examination bed during this scan while the ultrasound technician performs your scan. You do not need to change for this scan.
- Once the scans are complete, you will receive CD’s with your images to take home with you. The radiologist’s written report will be available in approximately 3 days and will be forwarded to you and your referring physician. It’s very important to review your reports with your physician and to discuss further treatment options.
- You will also receive a Blood Flow Quantification report from Dr. Haacke if you have the MRV scan. Dr. Haacke’s report will be available in approximately 4 weeks’ time and will be forwarded to you from our facility.

I think this is one of the most significant info for me. And i’m glad reading your article. But should remark on some general things, The website style is perfect, the articles is really nice : D. Good job, cheers
My husband was diagnosed with MS this summer. We are very interested in CCSVI and would like to know what the cost is to have the assessment done.
I had the CCSVI treatment done in Mexico in October of 2010. They opened my jugular viens with the right one worse than the left and my azygos vien seemed okay. I did not notice any major improvement but several people noted that my speech was better and I did notice that I wasn’t choking as much, as well the brain fog I was experiencing was better as was fati.gue. The fatigue and the brain fog is still not to bad but everything else is returning and things like balance, inability to walking, hands shaking (intention tremor) and feet swelling are deteriorating. I had a MRV done here in Canada in June of this year but I have since learned that a doppler ultrasound is better. How much do you charge for retesting? I feel ike I was undertreated knowing what they do now. Thanks for any information you can supply.
I happen to work near your building.
I am due for my regular Momography test am I able to get it done in your building? as the location is close by.
Is this covered under my care card? as it would at another place i would normally go to.
I was involved in the MS study, MRV preformed on Remeberance day at the clinic. Was wondering when the results will be forwarded to my Doctor? Have been waiting for them to make plans for CCSVI treatment some where in the world.
Thanks
At this point you are performing the tests for CCSVI, how long before you will complete the surgery if the veins are blocked during the assessment.
Hello Brenda,
We do not offer angioplasty for CCSVI at False Creek Healthcare. The procedure is currently not available in Canada.
My daughter just needs the CCSVI testing -we have all the reqs from there.so who do we contact. Thank-you kindly
